I know I was born to be a designer, because I love the smell of ink and paper that fills the room when I crack open a box of freshly minted brochures.

I tried to start a class newsletter – doing all the writing, comics, and page layout – when I was 11 and all I had was some looseleaf and a 24-pack of Crayola pencil crayons.

As a teen I would buy all the girly magazines to study the use of colors and type and ad design as much (likely more than) the latest fashion trends or how to patch things over with (blech) boyfriends.

I swear I bleed Pantone 193.

Web Design

I never intended to get into web design when I started this business. I was trained in print design. The web wasn’t even around when I went to college. (How DID we do it?)

But as the saying goes, necessity breeds innovation. After all, websites are simply another medium for communication… so I began to learn HTML and a teeny tiny bit of Java. And I got frustrated VERY quickly. That’s when I came to two important conclusions:

I need a technical wizard to help me with the programming end of these things, and
I need to get out of HTML and move to WordPress.

Both are now part of the Grassroots solution. You get creative genius, technical wizardry AND we put the power of content control in YOUR hands with WordPress.

We build our sites from scratch using the Genesis framework – or we can customize a theme of your choice. After you complete the Invitation to Launch form, I review your needs with you to determine a suitable course of action, schedule for production, and set a budget. Then we get to work.

Start-up Site

This is a sound entry-level site package that gives you the basics to get online, with plenty of room to grow for the future.

We start with a basic site design of our making, or we customize a WordPress theme of your choosing. (We recommend StudioPress, the developers of Genesis. It prevents any customization issues that we may encounter with more restrictively coded themes.)

A Start-up Site includes the following features:

Design to fit your brand message and image
5 – 6 “starter pages”. Typically these are Home, About, Contact, Products and Services.
Basic Search Engine Optimization and spam protection.
Blog or News/Media area
Calendar/Event tool
Social media feeds/links
Mail Chimp opt-in box
Google Map with GPS location (optional)

Once we review your needs, we can determine if there is anything further you require and make a plan to implement upgrades as your budget permits.

Custom Designed Websites

Custom websites are estimated based on your input on the Invitation to Launch. An average custom website is approximately $1800 and can go up from there. I look at the ‘big picture’ of what your website needs to do in order to meet your marketing objectives, and we create a strategy from that. Payment plans are available. Complete the Invitation to Launch, and I’ll contact you to make an appointment when we can talk.
